The classes are fantastic for complete beginners who like the idea of learning about MMA, hitting the bags, learning how to punch and kick, getting to grips with takedowns and wrestling and challenging themselves in a friendly and welcoming environment.
What Will I Be Doing In Class?
Check the video above to see some of the things you’ll be getting up to, but here are some of the things you can expect in one our classes:
Warm Up and Stretch – to increase flexibility, release stress and loosen up those tight muscles!
Strength and Conditioning Exercises – build lean muscle, develop sports specific fitness and burn some calories all at your own pace.
Striking Techniques – you will learn the correct way to punch, kick, knee, elbow, defend, move around, counter moves and various other combinations and techniques. Oh, and don’t worry if you can’t lift your leg above waist height – there are lots of kicks you can still learn!
Takedowns and Wrestling – you will learn the various takedowns, shoots, trips and throws as well as all the important ground positions, reversals, submissions and counters.
Focus Mitt Work – put into practice what you have been learning in class on a target. Focus mitts and strike shields are a great way to develop speed, power, reactions and fitness. We also use various form of pads to practice on, too, such as heavy bags and body shields.
Circuits – a mixture of bag work, strength and conditioning exercises, sports specific movements and lots of general sweatiness!
Sparring – for those that want to, they can kit up and spar against members and coaches in a friendly environment to pressure test their moves and fitness. A great challenge for those that want to but we don’t force members to do it, so if it’s not your cup of tea, don’t worry!
Our classes are on a Monday and a Thursday at 8pm and the classes last 1 hour.
Our memberships vary depending on how often you train, but are based on just £6 per class. All payments are made monthly.
